Automobile Engineering is one of the emerging branch of Mechanical Engineering like Mechatronics , Aeronautical Engineering etc. It is the discipline that applies the principles of Engineering , Physics and Material science for the Design, Analysis Manufacturing and maintenance of Automobile systems. It is the branch of Engineering that involves, Design, Production, Operation and Maintenance of Automobile machinery, which is the backbone of present economy like vascular system in human body.
The engineering field requires an understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis, and electricity. Automobile engineers use these core principles along with tools like computer-aided design, and product lifecycle management to design and analyze manufacturing plants, used for vehicles industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transport systems, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices, weapons, and others.

A laboratory is a facility that provides controlled conditions in which scientific or technological research, experiments, and measurement may be performed.Laboratories used for scientific research take many forms because of the differing requirements of specialists in the various fields of science and engineering.Engineers use laboratories as well to design, build, and test technological devices.
We have following laboratories which provide hands on experience to students for scheduled academic work, research activities as well as project related work.

Theoretical knowledge is incomplete without practical application. Carrying this ideology the students of SALITER (Mechanical & Automobile Engg.) participated in the BAJA- Mega ATV (All-terrain vehicle) championship 2018. It is a national level racing championship, organized by Auto sports India. With the guidance of Prof. Jigesh Shah and other faculty members the team has secured the 1st Position in Gujarat and 3rd position in India under the Drag Race category.
Team of Automobile Engineering students from SALITER participated in this EGVC event and got the prize of 1st runner up in this event organised by L.D. Engg. college.
