The Department of Computer Applications is dedicated to fostering excellence in computing, technology and application education. It equips students with the skills needed to thrive in the dynamic world of software development, data science, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. This department focuses on bridging theoretical knowledge with practical applications, ensuring graduates are industry-ready.
Academic programs offered Bachelor’s (BCA) and Master’s (MCA) degrees, covering programming, software engineering, object oriented paradigm, database management, web technologies, machine learning and many advanced computing technology. Students engage in hands-on learning through projects and research initiatives, preparing them for careers in IT, research, and entrepreneurship.
The faculty consists of experienced professionals and researchers who guide students in innovation and problem-solving. Department LAB is equipped with state-of-the-art computer laboratories comprising Intel Core i3 desktops (3.10 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD), ensuring a robust platform for academic and practical learning. These systems are supported by a comprehensive range of peripherals and auxiliary hardware to facilitate hands-on training and project development.
Students have access to high-speed internet through a dedicated 16 Mbps broadband connection. Furthermore, the campus is integrated via a 100 Mbps switched Ethernet local area network (LAN), creating a dynamic intranet environment for efficient file sharing, collaborative learning, and digital resource access.

Dr. Khyati Rami, Head of the MCA Department at SAL Institute of Technology & Engineering Research (SALITER), was invited by Ms. Khushbu Patel (In-charge Principal, BCA), Shri Kirtibhai D. Patel Umiya BCA College, to deliver an expert session on “Cyber Security” on 26th December 2023. During the session, Dr. Rami shared her extensive knowledge on various aspects of cyber security, including the concept of cyber security, different types of cyber attacks, and the tools commonly used for protection. She also highlighted important safety measures related to digital payments, social media usage, and online activities. Additionally, students were introduced to cyber laws and the legal consequences associated with cybercrime. The session provided valuable insights and helped students understand practical ways to stay safe in the digital world.
The Code Wars competition was held on 23rd October 2024 at Government MCA College, Maninagar, beginning at 10:30 AM. Kartik Gupta and Swayam Nimbark, students of MCA Semester 1 from SAL Institute of Technology & Engineering Research, participated in the event and demonstrated exceptional analytical and technical skills. The competition comprised two rounds designed to assess coding accuracy and debugging proficiency. Round 1 involved a handwritten exam with 15 questions to be solved in 15 minutes, where participants identified coding errors or determined the correct output. Round 2 featured a debugging challenge with 2 problem statements and a time limit of 30 minutes. Through their strong performance across both rounds, Kartik and Swayam secured the Third Prize in Code Wars, achieving a notable accomplishment for the institute.
Mr. Jaydeep Chauhan, an MCA Semester 4 student from the Department of Computer Applications, SAL Institute of Technology & Engineering Research, received the “Best Newcomer Award” from Sparrow Softtech during his internship. He earned this award for his valuable support in projects like Custom Trophy Creations and the QR Meta Project, guided by Team Lead Mr. Vaibhav Goti. This achievement highlights his hard work, learning attitude, and steady progress in his academic journey. His dedication towards completing tasks on time and willingness to learn new technologies made him stand out. Jaydeep continues to grow with confidence and aims to build a strong career in the IT industry.
Dr. Khyati Rami, Head of the MCA Department at SAL Institute of Technology & Engineering Research (SALITER), was invited by Dr. Parimal (In-charge Principal), Khyati School of Computer Application, to deliver an expert session on “IoT and Its Applications.” The session was conducted on 26th December 2023.During the session, Dr. Khyati Rami shared her in-depth expertise on the Internet of Things (IoT). The primary objective was to educate students about the latest trends in IoT, as well as to provide insights into the vast scope of IoT technologies in the modern business world. Around 57 final-year BCA students participated actively in the session.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion, where students’ queries were addressed, and the future prospects of IoT were highlighted—helping students understand potential career and job opportunities in the rapidly growing IoT era.
Dr. Khyati Rami, Head of the MCA Department at SAL Institute of Technology & Engineering Research (SALITER), was invited by CN English Medium School to serve as a jury member for their debate competition on the topic “Artificial Intelligence.” Her presence added immense value to the event, as she provided insightful observations, fair evaluations, and encouraging feedback to the participants. Dr. Rami’s expertise in emerging technologies enriched the competition, helping students gain a deeper understanding of AI and motivating them to express their ideas with clarity and confidence. Her contribution greatly enhanced the academic spirit of the program.
